Pastry Cook Position

We are seeking a skilled Pastry Cook to join our team in the pastry galley.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This role involves preparing a variety of pastry and dessert menu items according to provided recipes and photos.
  • The successful candidate will be assigned a station in the pastry galley by the Pastry Chef Tournant, with the opportunity to become familiar with different tasks and responsibilities.
  • They will be responsible for some pastry and dessert production, working either on the day shift or night shift as operational needs dictate.
  • In addition, they will set up pastry displays on buffets as required and assist with the transportation of food items from main stores to the pastry galley when assigned.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing their working area and utensils is also a key part of this role, following United States Public Health rules and regulations at all times.
  • Occasional early standby duties in the pastry galley may also be required for USPH purposes.
  • The successful candidate must be aware of and/or acquire the necessary knowledge to comply with the ship's standard operation, assisting guests and crew members with inquiries as needed.
  • Regular attendance at meetings, training activities, courses and other work-related activities is also expected.

Qualifications and Education:

  • A minimum of two years' experience as a Pastry Cook in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship or convention banqueting service (shipboard experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements and use of equipment.
  • Completion of high school or basic education equivalency requirement.
