About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Desktop/Network Engineer to join our team at RC Project Consultancy (RCPC). As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance for our desktop and network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and update assigned support service requests to ensure timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Handle daily technical support activities on desktop support, data network, and server management, including setup and testing of desktop computers and peripherals.
  • Install and test desktop software applications and internet browsers, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
  • Test computers to ensure proper functioning of computer systems, identifying and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Train end users on the effective use of computer hardware and software, promoting user adoption and confidence.
  • Develop and maintain effective professional working relationships with contractor personnel, co-workers, and clients, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Adhere to policies as outlined in corporate manuals and directives, ensuring compliance and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
  • Extend computer support for systems software and hardware, providing expert guidance and troubleshooting skills.
  • Setup computers and install software for various applications and programs, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Interact with staff on desktop problems and their resolution, providing timely and effective support.
  • Network and connect computers within the organization to enhance communication and collaboration, promoting a connected and productive work environment.
  • Order or buy computer systems and liaise with the purchase and supplies department, ensuring efficient procurement and delivery.
  • Maintain computer peripheral devices like printers and resolve associated problems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Strong technical knowledge of desktop and network infrastructure, including hardware and software components.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and educate end users.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and service excellence.
  • Adherence to policies and procedures, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of desktop and network infrastructure.
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications, such as CompTIA A+ or Cisco CCNA.
  • Strong knowledge of software applications and internet browsers, with the ability to install and configure.
