Category Management Lead

We are seeking a skilled Category Management professional to support our Mining Client based in Chennai.

The successful candidate will lead and execute Category Management activities in line with specified guidelines and business requirements to ensure surety of supply and minimum supply risk for the business. They will also maximize the value of commercial contracts and support operational safety, volume, and cost targets.

  • Develop and execute sourcing activities contributing to the Business/Sites/Local/Project Supply Sourcing Plan.
  • Commercial ownership of all spends for all areas of clientele.
  • Plan and execute portfolio of sourcing projects enabling category strategies and manage on-time delivery minimizing disruption to the business operations.
  • Execute local category strategies and contract coverage to support Operational Strategies and process automation.
  • Apply Category Management & Purchasing processes in alignment to design intent, local operating procedures, audit & Group Level obligations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Category management, providing actionable insights and be self-driven. Key qualifications include:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Contract / Category / Buyer roles (Not Purchasing).
  • Strong experience in developing commercial strategies.
  • Leading high value strategic negotiations and tactical negotiations.
  • Strong understanding on OEMs, Industrial services, Labour, Categories.
  • Global Procurement experience (Mandatory).
  • Advanced Excel Skills (Mandatory).
  • Strong understanding of ERP Systems (SAP / Pronto Preferred).
