Smart Meter Component Specialist

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in comprehensive testing and qualification processes, with hands-on experience in identifying, evaluating, and approving components for smart meter designs. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to support continuous product innovation and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with IEC, BIS, and relevant smart metering standards.
  • Component Validation: Validate alternate components to reduce supply risk and optimize cost.
  • Component Database Maintenance: Maintain a robust component database with lifecycle status.
  • Vendor Collaboration: Collaborate with procurement to qualify vendors and negotiate component terms.

This role demands proactive vendor management, strong knowledge of component qualification processes, and excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering (master's preferred).
  • 5–10 years of experience in component engineering, hardware design, or related fields.
  • A strong understanding of smart meter standards (IEC, IS, DLMS/COSEM) and compliance requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability of approved components for production, achieving annual BOM cost reduction targets, and maintaining supplier defect rates below 500 ppm.
