Job Title: Powertrain Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled engineer to execute activities ensuring validated release and sign-off of dedicated vehicle components and sub-systems.

  • Packaging of high voltage cables, busbars, and their layout along with plastic carriers required for HV & LV battery packs is essential.
  • Update in harness routing and busbar based on repackaging of interface components with coordination to system integration engineering teams is necessary.
  • Understanding energy storage system (battery) sizing for targeted vehicle performance is crucial.
  • Collaboration with systems engineers to ensure implementation of design changes during program development, prototype, and production build phases according to project timelines is required.
  • Stack-up analysis on designed components must be carried out.
  • Developing harness/busbar/cell packaging, listing out issues, and driving resolution prior to validation builds is key.
  • Creating test cases, design rules, or requirements as needed is essential.
  • Benchmarking and concept development are important aspects of this role.
  • Working on QAF, RFQ, and support plans along with suppliers/buyers and VFM teams is necessary.
  • Creating and managing DFMEA, PFMEA, BOD, and BOP documents is required.
  • Compliance with grade/EMC/safety standards is mandatory.
  • Designing and developing interface plastics/sheet metal components required in battery enclosures is essential.
  • Supporting the development of parts in-house or at supplier ends is necessary.
  • Testing parts at supplier or in-house as per DV or PV is required.
  • Participating in supplier PPAP activities and periodic audits of suppliers to improve quality and process improvements is necessary.
  • Supporting builds, creating supply plans for M1/VB, and production cars (saleable vehicles) is required.
  • Engineering solutions for build issues and containing and fixing issues on current production vehicles are necessary.
  • Creating circuit schematics and validating circuits for full vehicle architectures is key.
  • Releasing 3D harness assembly models in PLM is required.
  • Experience in various change management processes like engineering change requests is beneficial.
  • Selecting harness coverings based on 3D model routing and packaging and surrounding geometry is necessary.
  • Developing harness packaging issues lists and driving resolution prior to validation builds is key.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Prior experience on HV battery packs, cells, and modules is required.
  • Hands-on experience with designing and developing EDS HV harnesses and busbars, BMS is necessary.
  • Hands-on experience in GD&T and tolerance stack-ups along with sheet metal and plastic part designs is required.
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels is necessary.
  • Good knowledge on tooling feasibility, raw materials, and their sources and familiarity with full design life cycles is required.
  • Knowledge of EDU, battery modules, busbars, DC-DC converters, and motors will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of life cycle of a vehicle will be an added advantage.
  • Key practitioner in problem-solving techniques (e.g., six-sigma) is necessary.
  • Understanding of DFMEA, PFMEA is required.
  • Experience in using industry-standard ECR processes is beneficial.
  • Experience in EDS power distribution and components is necessary.
  • Good level of knowledge about manufacturing methods/technologies used for EDS power distribution is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in electrical wiring harnesses, busbars, fuses, connectors, relays, routing, and packaging in CATIA V5/V6 is beneficial.
  • Demonstrable experience of system release responsibility from concept to manufacture is necessary.
  • Working knowledge of project delivery processes is required.
  • Knowledge of bracket design/plastic parts design is beneficial.
