Operational Excellence Specialist

The position of Operational Excellence Specialist is a key role in driving operational effectiveness and profitability for global manufacturing sites and processes.

This individual will be responsible for developing and executing focused efforts to improve operational excellence, collaborating with site leadership teams and directors to lead performance transformations and drive continuous improvement cultures.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and implementing cost improvement projects through operational efficiencies.
• Defining policies and standards for group manufacturing excellence.
• Establishing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) programs to track and eliminate lost production causes.
• Conducting diagnostics to identify areas for improvement.
• Applying value stream mapping exercises to define processes and work with sites to implement or streamline/improve the use of lean tools, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.
• Proposing and supporting projects and programs within businesses for the identification of improvement levers, setting smart objectives, and carrying out manufacturing excellence programs.
• Supporting the execution of improvement projects by promoting the use of proven tools and approaches to achieve manufacturing excellence.
• Ensuring the sustainability of improvements through training and skill-building of leaders.
• Leading and mentoring leadership team members, facilitating a culture that motivates employees.
• Recommending methods to increase product/service quality.
• Participating in self-development activities and training others.
• Exhibiting safety awareness and safe work practices to protect employees and visitors.
• Collaborating with other OE managers and directors to implement improvement initiatives.

A bachelor's degree or equivalent is preferred; education with a scientific background is highly desired.

Relevant work experience includes BS/BA in a scientific or business discipline and at least 5-8 years' experience in project/program management, operational excellence / continuous improvement, or consulting roles. Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology field and relevant MS/MBA (project management, industrial engineering, operations management, etc.) are preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering, Chemical Engineering preferred.
• Extensive previous experience in implementing OE/CI projects in manufacturing (pharmaceutical preferred) environments.
• Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
• Proven experience with Lean Six Sigma to drive business results.
• Strong technical skills.
• Impact and influence skills, and strong experience in change management.
• Initiative.
• Project Management skills.
