Job Role Overview

The primary function of this position is to provide expert-level technical support and guidance to customers.

  • Lead and drive troubleshooting on customer-reported issues, identifying and isolating product defects at both hardware and software levels.
  • Replicate customer environments in a lab setting and own the communication process among customers, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.
  • Act as a strong advocate for customers, understanding their environment, network, and business impact to deliver effective solutions.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of customers' infrastructure, technologies, and network topologies, including configurations and service history, to expedite issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal services teams to deliver focused support by participating in customer reviews, network training sessions, and critical issue resolutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of designated customer networks and industry best practices to inform training programs for other support teams.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance during testing, deployment, and operational phases for CFTS customers.
  • Contribute to new product development projects, knowledge base creation, trainings, and documentation activities.
  • Support newly hired engineers and peers in technical areas of specialization through mentorship.

This is an individual contributor role with weekend coverage and pager rotation responsibilities.

Key Skills:

  • Excellent customer handling and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Fundamental understanding of:

  • Layer 3 - IP and related technologies (ICMP, TCP, GRE, QoS, VRRP) and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS).
  • Layer 2 technologies (Ethernet, VLAN, BFD, STP, RSTP, ARP, LACP).
  • Multicast protocols (IGMP, IGMP-snooping, PIM).
  • MPLS, L2, and L3 VPN, Traffic Engineering, LDP, RSVP, Segment Routing, and VPLS.

Preferred qualifications include experience or exposure in one or more of the following areas:

  • Advanced multicast technologies (NG-MVPN, Draft Rosen).
  • Advanced datacenter technologies (MC-LAG, VxLAN, EVPN).
  • Scripting languages like Perl, Python, Unix, or Expect.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Engineering, or Computer Science, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the networking industry.

Candidates with extensive JUNOS experience, Juniper routers and switches, Cisco, Arista, Alcatel, or traffic generators (Ixia, Agilent) will be preferred. Equivalent certifications (JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE) are also welcome.
