Lead Credit Strategist

About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Credit Head to lead the credit risk, underwriting, and portfolio management functions.

The incumbent will play a pivotal role in setting up and driving the credit strategy, policies, and processes aligned with business goals, while ensuring risk management standards and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor credit frameworks and processes for lending and supply chain financing.
  • Oversee the credit appraisal and underwriting function, including assessment of borrower risk, financial due diligence, and creditworthiness evaluation.
  • Manage portfolio quality, delinquency management, and design early warning mechanisms to mitigate risk.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to balance growth objectives with prudent credit practices.
  • Present credit proposals and portfolio performance updates to senior management, board, and regulators as required.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing credit team capable of handling scale.
  • Stay updated with industry, regulatory, and market trends impacting lending.

Key Requirements:

  • 8–15 years of experience in credit risk/underwriting, preferably with strong SME/MSME exposure.
  • Deep understanding of supply chain finance, bill discounting, invoice financing, and related credit products.
  • Proven ability to develop credit strategies from scratch and manage large loan books with quality.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory norms, compliance requirements, and RBI guidelines for NBFCs.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • CA/MBA/FRM or equivalent qualification preferred.
