Procurement Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join our team. As a key member of the procurement department, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process from identifying reliable vendors to ensuring timely availability of raw materials and services.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement processes, inventory management, and supply chain operations. You will have excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with production, quality, accounts, and logistics teams.

In this role, you will develop alternate sourcing strategies to ensure uninterrupted supply, build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, and conduct vendor performance evaluations. You will also be responsible for issuing purchase orders, monitoring stock levels, and coordinating with the stores/warehouse for replenishment.

To succeed in this position, you will need to implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality, benchmark prices, and identify opportunities for bulk/long-term contracts. You will also need to maintain accurate procurement records, ensure compliance with company policies and statutory regulations, and coordinate with finance for vendor payments and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers/vendors for raw materials, machinery spares, consumables, and services.
  • Obtain quotations, compare price, quality, and delivery terms, and finalize purchase orders.
  • Develop alternate sourcing strategies to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Vendor Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Conduct vendor performance evaluation based on quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and payment conditions.
Purchase Operations:
  • Issue Purchase Orders (POs) in line with company policies and approvals.
  • Ensure timely procurement of materials as per production schedule.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the stores/warehouse for replenishment.
Cost Optimization:
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
  • Benchmark prices and identify opportunities for bulk/long-term contracts.
Compliance & Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate procurement records (POs, invoices, GRNs, contracts).
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory regulations, and audit requirements.
  • Coordinate with finance for vendor payments and reconciliations.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce / Supply Chain / Engineering / Management.
  • 2–5 years of experience in procurement/purchase in a manufacturing/industrial setup.
  • Knowledge of local and international sourcing preferred.
