A Conventional Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for reviewing, analyzing and underwriting mortgage loans to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. This individual will be part of a team that ensures the integrity of loan applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze mortgage loan applications to ensure eligibility, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Examine all documentation for accuracy and completeness, including credit reports, income statements, and property valuations.
  • Apply expertise in the 4Cs framework, debt-to-income ratio calculation, and credit report analysis to make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Collaborate with staff and management to resolve escalated loans and provide recommendations for improving internal audit policies and practices.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in conventional or government-end end underwriting.
  • Well-versed in the 4Cs of Underwriting (Credit, Capacity, Collateral, and Capital).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate underwriting decisions to processors and advisors.
