Lead Operations Specialist: Farm Development and Management

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our farm program, ensuring timely and accurate data entry, and managing relationships with farmers.

This role involves supervising a team of associates, conducting audits, and implementing new protocols and experiments to achieve improved water quality and healthy stocking densities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage 3+ Program Associates in various aspects of farm management.
  • Supervise the implementation of protocols and experiments to improve farm operations.
  • Conduct regular audits and ensure adherence to established standards.
Farmer Engagement:

The ideal candidate will have excellent relationship-building skills and be able to maintain strong connections with farmers, collect relevant information, and provide field input during strategic meetings.

  • Build and maintain relationships with ARA farmers.
  • Farm information maintenance: Obtain necessary data at regular intervals and update records accordingly.
  • Field presence: Spend significant time engaging with ARA staff, farmers, and other stakeholders.
Scaling and Strategic Assistance:

Provide expert guidance on ground-truthing, expansion, and scaling efforts to drive growth and improvement in farm operations.

  • Ground-truthing: Offer practical insights during strategic discussions with leadership.
  • Expansion: Lead the process of integrating new farms into the program.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The successful candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Nationality: Eligible to work in India.
  • Experience with field programs: At least one year of experience managing similar programs.
  • Language: Fluent in oral and written Telugu and English.
  • Location: Full-time presence required in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, with extensive fieldwork in surrounding villages.
  • Transportation: Ability to drive a motorbike or scooter on rural roads.
Ideal Criteria:

Although not mandatory, candidates with the following criteria will be considered highly suitable:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Fisheries, Aquaculture, Social Sciences).
  • Technical expertise: Prior experience with water quality analysis and management in aquaculture is advantageous.
