About our school Lady Andal House of Children is an established special school in Chennai, with a long-standing legacy in education.

We are dedicated to providing special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome. Our scenic campus is centrally located and equipped with the necessary facilities.

The school offers pre-vocational and vocational training programmes, including the NIOS curriculum. We have a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals who provide physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

We are building a dynamic team of special educators and educators to work with learners with multiple disabilities and to guide participants in the NIOS programme. Our goal is to support parents in the schooling journey of their special child by collecting a highly subsidised fee.

Music Teacher Job Description: The ideal candidate must have expertise in designing and implementing music lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities, including students with autism, physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or emotional/behavioural challenges.

Our Music Teacher will promote music as a means of self-expression, communication, and emotional regulation. They will also maintain accurate records and contribute to IEPs (Individualised Education Programs).

Responsibilities include managing behaviour sensitively in line with our positive behaviour support policies, organising performances, music therapy sessions, and school-wide musical events to showcase students' abilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's or P.G Diploma in Carnatic/Hindustani Music, Certificate course in Music Therapy (preferred)
  • ~3 to 7 years of working with children in a mainstream school/Special school
  • ~Teaching qualification or experience in special education (Preferred)
  • ~Experience working with children with special educational needs (Preferred)
  • ~Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and adaptive music education
  • ~Ability to play an instrument and facilitate group music singing
  • ~Must know Light songs and Bhajans in Tamil
  • ~Knowledge of Tamil language is mandatory
  • ~Training in music therapy or knowledge of therapeutic music practices
  • ~Experience with communication aids
