Cash Handling Specialist Position

As a Cash Handling Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless customer transactions and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome customers, answer their questions, help them locate items and provide advice or recommendations.

  • Operate scanners, scales, cash registers and other electronics to efficiently process sales and manage inventory.

  • Balance the cash register and generate reports for credit and debit sales, accurately reconciling all transactions.

  • Accept payments, verify prices and quantities, and provide receipts to every customer, ensuring exceptional service standards are met.

  • Process refunds and exchanges, resolving customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.

  • Bag or wrap purchases securely to prevent damage during transport, maintaining store image at all times.

  • Adhere to all established store procedures regarding coupons, gift cards, and the purchase of specific items such as alcohol or cigarettes.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in retail or a customer-facing role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks under pressure.
  • Basic math skills and accuracy when handling cash and operating electronic equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or certification an asset.
  • Available to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
