Tax Expertise for Strategic Decision Making
The Tax Function contributes to the organization's objectives by adding value through tax planning, preserving value by reducing tax risks, and enhancing value by finding opportunities. This role entails the management of tax and regulatory compliances, adaptation of operating models to tax and regulatory environments, and assistance in strategic decision-making processes. The professional must stay abreast of relevant global tax & statutory changes to boost tax efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advising on cost implications of business decisions in domestic and cross-border markets.
- Ensuring monitoring of tax governance and alignment of tax positions adopted by engagement teams, IFS, and finance teams.
- Managing relationships with tax consultants and IFS functions to ensure compliance with tax and regulatory positions and policies, minimizing litigation possibilities.
- Coordinating with internal and external auditors to ensure audit completion.
- Monitoring tax governing framework on tax assets realization to avoid working capital lock-in and review operations to prevent tax leakage.
- Timely execution of tax and regulatory compliance with accuracy and quality.
- Responsibility for adequacy of tax provision, owner of tax accounts, and ensuring tax positions are followed.
- Effective tax assessments and litigation management through due research on tax matters, ensuring effective representation of tax position adopted with detailed documentation within timelines.
- Ensure timely closure of audit points with complete and accurate submission of schedules and documents.
- Respond to engagement consultations and safeguard engagement documents from tax and regulatory perspectives, ensuring stakeholders understand tax impact and consider it in business transactions.
- Implement application controls in financials and tertiary applications, regular review of the same to ensure effective controls, exception reporting, and corrective action.
- Maintaining documentation for compliance and assessments, timely updates in reporting applications.
- Contribute to firm's strategic projects, considering finance aspects duly.
- Mitigate tax and regulatory risks on firm policies and business model.
- Highlight exceptions in tax and regulatory reporting, stay updated with tax law changes, evaluate their impact on operations and business model, and factor them into policies and cost of operations.
- Prevent errors and fraud through robust internal controls, regular review, and maintain integrity of tax and regulatory reporting, update firm operations and policies with latest tax and regulatory framework.
- Report agreed Process KPI, strengthen review mechanism, and ensure timely governance compliance on monthly reporting.
- Interdepartmental deliverables adherence through Interlock documents.
- Meet KQI and RCSA KPI, taking corrective actions for continuous improvement, review RCSA periodically under Risk Mitigation strategy and enhance RCSA framework.
- Take lead in implementing technological advancements in the function with best-in-class automation practices to drive efficiency in overall finance processes impacting tax and regulatory compliances.
- Demonstrate People Leadership skills:
- Team Management: Supervising and managing a team, including their performance, productivity, and adherence to SOP.
- Performance Monitoring: Maintaining and evaluating individual and team performance metrics, ensuring fair and equitable measurement of performance.
- Coaching and Training: Providing constant coaching, monitoring, and training to enhance team members' futuristic skill sets, knowledge, and perform regulatory and technical training for the team.
- Quality Assurance: Maintaining quality standards, conducting frequent quality checks to identify areas of improvement, and take corrective actions on feedback.
- Timely recognition of efforts made by individuals to enhance motivation.
