Job Title

A Terminal Operations Supervisor is required to manage the day-to-day activities of a terminal. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the terminal, ensuring that targets and deadlines are met, and that all equipment is functioning properly.

  • The Terminal Operations Supervisor will monitor the ship working operations, plan and coordinate shifts in accordance with the terminal's requirements, and conduct tool box talks with shift team members.
  • They will also liaise with the maintenance department to maximise equipment availability, manage the entire terminal, and lead the workforce to achieve targets.
  • In addition, they will handle emergencies effectively, allocate job responsibilities based on work, and reallocate when required.
  • They will also liaise with rostering staff to determine labour availability, communicate with external stakeholders, and continually review and introduce improved operating procedures and systems.

Requirements:

  • Minimum five years of supervisory experience in similar container terminal operations.
  • Understanding of equipment and machinery functionality.
  • Knowledge in Equipment operations.
  • Understanding of expenditure, revenue and costing structures.
  • Awareness of health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Sound customer/client relationship skills.
  • Computer literacy/keyboard skills, including an understanding of the terminal Equipments and Terminal operating systems.
  • Effective communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
