Progress Application Support Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Application Support Specialist to join our team in providing production support, issue resolution, and monitoring for business-critical applications.

This is a highly visible role that requires strong knowledge of Progress OpenEdge (ABL/4GL) and excellent analytical and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Support: Provide L2/L3 support for applications built on Progress OpenEdge, including troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving technical issues.
  • System Monitoring: Monitor application performance and ensure system availability, identifying and addressing any potential issues before they impact the business.
  • Incident Management: Analyze and resolve incidents, service requests, and problem tickets within agreed-upon Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Root Cause Analysis: Perform root cause analysis to identify underlying issues and implement long-term fixes to recurring problems.
  • Batch Processing: Handle batch processes, jobs, and scheduled tasks, ensuring timely execution and minimal downtime.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with development teams for bug fixes, enhancements, and release deployments, ensuring smooth delivery of new features and functionality.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong hands-on experience: With Progress OpenEdge (ABL/4GL) in a support environment.
  • Good understanding: Of Progress Database concepts and performance troubleshooting.
  • Experience: In incident management, problem management, and change management.
  • Familiarity: With UNIX/Linux commands and scripting.
  • Exposure: To ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, JIRA, Remedy, etc.
  • Strong skills: In troubleshooting, analysis, and communication.
