Physiotherapist Job Description

The Madras Seva Sadan has a special school in Chennai to provide holistic support to children and adults with diverse needs.

Our comprehensive approach includes pre-vocational and vocational training programmes, adhering to the NIOS curriculum, supported by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals offering physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Physiotherapist to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for children with various needs.
  • Develop, implement, and review individualized treatment plans and therapy goals in collaboration with teachers, parents, and other health professionals.
  • Deliver 1:1 and group physiotherapy sessions tailored to each child's developmental level and physical needs.
  • Provide support for physical access and mobility within the school environment, including recommending adaptations and assistive equipment.
  • Monitor progress and outcomes using evidence-based tools and update care plans accordingly.
  • Support pupils with postural management programs, mobility aids, orthotics, and safe handling strategies.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, occupational therapists, speech & language therapists, and school nurses.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings, reviews, and transition planning.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, risk assessments, and reports in line with professional standards.
  • Provide training to school staff and families on physiotherapy programs, manual handling, and positioning techniques.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential qualifications include a degree in physiotherapy (BSc or MSc) and HCPC registration (Health and Care Professions Council).

Minimum three years' experience working with children and adults with multiple disabilities is also required.

Knowledge of conditions affecting motor development and experience with specialist equipment such as standing frames and gait trainers are essential.
