Job Overview

DMSII Database Administrators play a pivotal role in maintaining and managing our databases.

This position requires strong technical expertise to oversee the installation, configuration, and administration of our DMSII databases. Ensuring efficient database operations is crucial for business success.

Main Responsibilities

  • Installation, configuration, and administration of DMSII databases.
  • Database performance monitoring, space utilization, and availability on Unisys mainframes.
  • Management of sets, subsets, and indexes for efficient data access.
  • Database backup, journaling, and roll-forward recovery procedures.
  • Support for schema changes and database reorganizations as required.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with application and system teams to resolve performance or access issues.
  • Participation in disaster recovery testing and compliance with backup policies.
  • Implementation and maintenance of security, audit trails, and user access controls.
  • Documentation of DBA processes, configuration, and recovery procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Unisys DMSII database administration.
  • Familiarity with DMUTILITY, DMSUPPORT, and database reorganization tools.
  • Understanding of journaling, quiet point backups, and roll-forward recovery.
  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Familiarity with COBOL, ALGOL, or other Unisys mainframe application integration.
  • Knowledge of batch jobs, JCL equivalents, and operational support tasks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a DMSII DBA or Unisys Mainframe DBA.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work rotational shifts if required.
