Job Title: L2 Network Engineer with System Administration

We are seeking a skilled professional to support our IT infrastructure team as a L2 Network Engineer with System Administration expertise. This role requires a balance of networking knowledge and system administration experience to ensure high availability, security, and performance of enterprise IT systems.

  • Network Engineering

The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting Layer 2 (switching) and Layer 3 (routing) network infrastructure. They will also configure and maintain network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points. Key responsibilities include handling VLANs, trunking, STP, port security, and link aggregation.

The successful candidate will assist in escalated issues from L1 engineers and coordinate with vendors if required. They will also perform periodic network health checks, patching, and firmware upgrades. Documentation of network topologies, configurations, and standard operating procedures is also a key requirement.

  • System Administration

The L2 Network Engineer with System Administration will administer Windows/Mac systems Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and group policies. They will also perform user account management, access control, and security policy enforcement. Additionally, they will maintain virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V/KVM) and cloud-based environments.

The ideal candidate will monitor server performance, storage, and backups, ensuring business continuity. They will apply OS patches, updates, and security hardening. Support for troubleshooting of applications and system-level issues escalated from L1 is also required.

  • Collaboration & Support

The successful candidate will work closely with L1 engineers, providing guidance and training where needed. They will coordinate with cross-functional teams to support IT projects and deployments. Creation and maintenance of documentation for both network and system processes are essential.

Participation in on-call rotations for critical issues is also a requirement. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of L2/L3 networking concepts, including VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, TCP/IP, QoS. Hands-on experience with Cisco/Juniper/HP/Aruba switches and routers is also necessary.

  • Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience). A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in networking and system administration roles is required. Proficiency in Windows/Mac system administration and knowledge of virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar) are essential.

Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, SolarWinds, Zabbix, etc.) is also beneficial. Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) is a plus.
