At Lady Andal House of Children, we provide special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome. Our school offers pre-vocational and vocational training programs, including the NIOS curriculum, and is supported by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals providing physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

Our ideal candidate will have expertise in developing and implementing Individualised Education Plans (IEPs), providing instructional support tailored to students' unique needs, maintaining thorough documentation and reporting, managing student behavior effectively, and adapting curriculum to ensure accessibility and engagement for all learners.

We are looking for a skilled Special Educator who is passionate about supporting diverse learners and fostering inclusive education. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing, and regularly reviewing IEPs tailored to each student's needs;
  • Delivering customised instruction to students based on their individual needs and learning styles;
  • Modifying the standard curriculum to meet the abilities of students with disabilities;
  • Implementing and monitoring behaviour intervention plans and using positive behaviour supports;
  • Collaborating with general education teachers, therapists, counsellors, and parents to support students' academic and social development;
  • Assessing and tracking student performance and progress regularly, adjusting goals accordingly;
  • Maintaining a supportive, safe, and inclusive learning environment for all students;
  • Documenting and reporting on student attendance, assessments, and communications;

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's or PG Diploma or Master's degree in Special Education or equivalent in Multiple Disabilities;
  • 3 to 7 years of experience working with children and adults with multiple disabilities;
  • Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and assistive aids and devices;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams;
  • Good organisational and documentation skills;
  • Bilingual medium of instruction requires proficiency in English and Tamil;
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and specialised instructional strategies.
