Operational Excellence Specialist

About the Position

The Operational Excellence Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing a focused effort to improve operational effectiveness and profitability for global manufacturing sites and processes. This role will collaborate with leadership teams to develop and lead a performance transformation to enhance operational excellence, systems, and overall drive a continuous improvement culture.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement cost improvement projects through operational efficiencies.
  • Develop policies and define standards for group manufacturing excellence.
  • Establish an Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) program to track, identify, and eliminate lost production causes.
  • Conduct diagnostics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct value stream mapping exercises to define processes; work with the site to implement or streamline/improve use of LEAN tools, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Propose and support projects and programs within businesses for identification of improvement levers, setting smart objectives, and carrying-out Manufacturing Excellence programs.
  • Support execution of improvement projects by promoting use of proven tools and approaches to achieve manufacturing excellence.
  • Ensure sufficient focus on sustainability of improvements through providing training and skill building of leaders.
  • Lead and mentor leadership team members, facilitating a culture that motivates employees.
  • Recommend and implement methods to increase the quality of products and/or services.
  • Participate in self-development activities and training of others.
  • Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices. Protect employees and visitors by maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
  • Work closely in conjunction with other OE Managers in US, EU & IN sites and Director of OE (US, EU & IN) to implement improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business or as requested.

Key Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred; education with a scientific background is highly desired.

Relevant Work Experience: BS/BA in a scientific or business discipline and at least 5-8 years' experience in project/program management, operational excellence / continuous improvement, or consulting role required. Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology field and relevant MS/MBA (Project Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, etc.) preferred.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering, Chemical Engineering preferred
  • Extensive previous experience in implementation of OE/CI projects in manufacturing (pharmaceutical preferred) environment.
  • Certified Six sigma Black Belt
  • Proven experience with Lean Six Sigma experience to drive business results
