The Legal Specialist Role in Higher Education

We are seeking an exceptional legal professional to join our team as a Legal Specialist. The role involves providing expert legal counsel and support to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding intellectual property, and facilitating agreements and collaborations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Compliance: Provide legal guidance to the organization, adhering to statutory and regulatory requirements of regulatory bodies (UGC, AICTE, State Government, etc.)
  • Liaise with Regulatory Bodies: Collaborate with regulatory bodies (UGC, AICTE, State Government, etc.) to ensure timely filings and responses
  • Draft Agreements: Draft, negotiate, and finalize Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), agreements, and contracts with collaborating institutions, regulatory bodies, faculty, and other stakeholders
  • Oversee Documentation: Oversee documentation related to grants, research funding, and arrangements with various corporate partners
  • Collaborate with IP Lawyers: Work with IP lawyers, both within and outside the organization, to develop and finalize IP policies, licensing agreements, and privacy policies

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Graduation in Law from a premium institute
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience, preferably working with universities in Maharashtra and handling regulatory compliance
  • Skills: Strong domain knowledge in corporate law, excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills
