Job Description

A mechanical millwork designer is a skilled professional who specializes in creating detailed designs and plans for custom millwork projects. This job requires a combination of technical knowledge, artistic flair, and excellent problem-solving abilities.

The primary responsibility is to review architectural drawings and specifications to understand the project requirements. After understanding the client's needs, the designer uses computer-aided design (CAD) software to create 2D and 3D models, including detailed plans, layouts, and renderings.

  • Designing mechanical millwork projects, including casework, cabinetry, and other custom woodwork. This role requires strong technical skills, knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and clients.

This role involves collaborating with architects, engineers, and project managers to develop detailed and accurate mechanical millwork designs. The designer must create 3D models and generate 2D drawings using CAD software, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

The designer conducts site visits to take measurements and gather information needed for design development. They prepare material and hardware selection and produce accurate bills of materials. Designs are optimized for functionality, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to project requirements.

Production documents, including shop drawings, fabrication plans, and installation instructions, are created by the designer. Reviews and modifications are made based on feedback from team members, clients, and quality control inspections. The designer collaborates with the production team to address design-related issues during fabrication and installation.

Staying updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and new materials enhances design capabilities.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • AutoCAD expertise and ability to work on architectural and furniture drawings.
  • Hands-on experience in panel optimization and production process management.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP, ERP tools, and 2020 Design Software for furniture design.
