Job Description

The role of a Category Manager in FMCG involves overseeing the management of a team responsible for buying and managing FMCG brands across various regions. This includes coordinating with vendors, suppliers, and other teams to ensure smooth business operations.

  • Lead a team of 8-10 members in buying National & Regional FMCG brands.
  • Conduct training sessions for the team members, both classroom and on-the-job.
  • Develop and groom team members reporting to you.
  • Coordinate with vendor partners for negotiations, forecasting, and category development initiatives.
  • Work closely with Store Operations, Supply Chain, Purchase, and Central Purchase teams to maximize off-takes and ensure best promotions in stores.
  • Discuss and close Monthly and Quarterly plans with FMCG vendors.
  • Train and groom Purchase officers and Asst. Purchase managers.
  • Ensure availability of goods in DC and stores day-in and day-out.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage a similar role with minimum 10 years experience in FMCG sales.

  • Hold a Graduate/Post Graduate/MBA degree.
  • Experience in General Trade will be preferred.
  • Knowledge of local language/location of posting is required.
  • Good communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong team management and training skills.
