Job Overview:

This role focuses on managing and administering SQL Server databases, both on-premises and in Azure.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Administer and manage SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
  • Plan and implement Azure SQL Subscription services, focusing on cost-efficiency and scalability.
  • Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and monitoring to enhance database efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery solutions, backups, and high availability configurations.
  • Implement and enforce security policies, access controls, and compliance standards to protect data integrity.
  • Migrate databases from on-premises SQL Server to Azure SQL while minimizing downtime and service disruptions.
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and database lifecycle management.
  • Monitor production issues, troubleshoot problems, and proactively address database capacity concerns to ensure smooth operation.

About You:

  • Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA).
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Azure SQL Server and Azure SQL Subscription management.
  • Strong expertise in performance tuning and troubleshooting database issues to resolve them efficiently.
  • Detailed knowledge of T-SQL, backup/recovery procedures, replication, indexing, and security configurations to ensure robust database management.
  • Proven experience with migration projects from on-premises SQL Server to Azure SQL to minimize disruptions.
  • Familiarity with Azure services like Azure Monitor, Azure Security Center, and Azure Automation to enhance overall system security.
  • Understanding of licensing and cost management for Azure SQL resources to optimize expenses.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Bonus Qualifications:

MICROSOFT CERTIFIED: AZURE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR ASSOCIATE or equivalent certification.Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation to streamline tasks.Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools and CI/CD pipelines related to database deployments for enhanced efficiency.Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments to adapt quickly to changing project needs.
