The Research & Development, Manager, Agile Sourcing will be part of a global team collaborating with R&D category leaders and business partners on procurement execution through data analytics and sourcing in support of procurement category strategies.

This role has a strong emphasis on data analytics, requiring the ability to build an understanding of BMS's global, end-to-end value chain as it relates to the categories in focus. Key responsibilities include leading data analytics projects in support of procurement objectives, developing and maintaining purchasing & negotiation strategies, and identifying supply optimization opportunities for speed-to-market, innovation, revenue enhancement, mitigated risk/improved lifecycle management, overall competitive cost advantage, and other sources of value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with procurement stakeholders to understand their needs and recommend solutions as it pertains to data analysis and interpretation to support decision making and category planning.
  • Develop datasets by preparing and combining raw data from various sources for analysis.
  • Conduct financial analyses on supplier proposals and generate recommendations for supplier selection or negotiation strategies.
  • Develop or leverage quantitative methodologies to predict future demand or pricing trends.
  • Create visualizations (charts, graphs, dashboards) to communicate findings effectively.
  • Work within procurement organization on continuous improvement opportunities in the domain of procurement analytics.
  • Partner with supporting functions (Business Intelligence, Information Technology) to evaluate current and potential tools, platforms, etc. for potential uses within the procurement ecosystem. Including those with machine learning capabilities.
  • May also directly engage supplier contacts directly as it pertains to expectations alignment on data insights, formatting, etc. to meet BMS requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S./B.A. (Business, Science or Engineering is desirable)
  • Minimum of 5 years' work experience with at least 3 years in business analytics or relevant experience (preferably in the life sciences industry)
  • Experience in leveraging industry standard data analytical & visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, SAP/ERP planning modules, etc.
  • Understanding of the value proposition of the procurement function and a passion to support efforts that bring more medicines, to more patients faster.
  • Expertise in procurement processes, technology and systems, supplier analysis and management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier diversity, strategic planning and integrated supply chain.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with and manage internal stakeholders up to some senior leaders within a highly matrixed organization, working across cross-functional, cross-organizational teams.
  • Strong understanding of data analytics, category management, project and performance management
  • Comfort in lower complexity contract review e.g. Statements of Work/Work Orders.
  • Proficiency in English
