Lead Power Electronics Engineer Job Description

The lead power electronics engineer will be responsible for developing advanced control algorithms and digital implementation of the same for next generation power conversion designs. This includes designing high-performance bi-directional AC/DC/AC converters, 3-phase automotive drives, and AC/DC power supplies.

The ideal candidate should have thorough knowledge of power electronics/power conversion topologies and control, as well as power control theory & algorithms, simulation environment like MATLAB, microcontroller/DSP-based software development, proficiency in hardware debuggers, logic analyzers, and ICE, sound understanding of DSP components, and protocols/interfaces such as I2C, CAN, RS485, LAN, MODBUS etc.

A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field is required. A master's degree from a prestigious institute in power electronics or related fields is considered an advantage.

  • Advanced Digital Control Design
    • Develop cutting-edge control algorithms and digital implementation of the same for next generation power conversion design.
    • Design and implement high-performance bi-directional AC/DC/AC converters, 3-phase automotive drives, and AC/DC power supplies.
  • Power Electronics Modeling and Simulation
    • Model power electronics circuits in MATLAB/SIMPLIS using advanced techniques and algorithms.
    • Develop state-of-the-art algorithms for modeling and simulation of complex power conversion topologies.
  • Requirements and Skills
    • Expertise in supervisory controls/communications.
    • Proficiency in PWM techniques.
    • Advanced nonlinear/adaptable feedback for improved stability.
    • Failure prediction and prevention.
    • Frequency modulation for EMI control.
    • Efficiency tuning for PFC standby/housekeeping supplies.
    • High-performance DC/DC conversion.
