The role of a Chief Investment Officer is multifaceted and dynamic, requiring an individual with exceptional leadership skills and a deep understanding of investment strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Sourcing & Thesis: The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining a high-quality pipeline of investment opportunities across various stages of growth. This involves developing and refining thematic theses, leveraging their professional network to identify potential investments, and conducting rigorous evaluations to assess the viability of each opportunity.
  2. Evaluation & IC Prep: Once a potential investment is identified, the Chief Investment Officer will lead the evaluation process, which includes running fast screens and deep dives to assess the company's market positioning, financials, and competitive landscape. They will also build and audit financial models, scenario simulations, and exit pathways to inform their investment decisions.
  3. Diligence Leadership (LDD/FDD/Tech/Commercial): In preparation for investment, the Chief Investment Officer will define the scope of due diligence, select and manage external partners for legal and financial due diligence, and commission technical and commercial work as needed. They will synthesize findings into actionable recommendations, including go/no-go decisions and practical remedies.
  4. Transaction Execution: When an investment is approved, the Chief Investment Officer will support the negotiation of term sheets, valuation rationales, and deal structures that align with the company's interests. They will coordinate with counsel on definitive documents, ensure a smooth closing process, and maintain accurate records.
  5. Portfolio Support & Follow-Ons: Following an investment, the Chief Investment Officer will provide ongoing support to portfolio companies, driving targeted assistance in areas such as hiring, go-to-market strategy, operations, partnerships, and governance. They will track portfolio performance, prepare follow-on cases, and manage communications with co-investors.
  6. Finance, Reporting & Ops: To optimize investment returns, the Chief Investment Officer will partner with the finance team on allocations, wires, compliance, and record-keeping. They will maintain a tidy pipeline CRM, report on funnel metrics and cadence SLAs, and build internal playbooks and knowledge bases to enhance decision-making.

Founder-Friendly Communication Standard: The Chief Investment Officer will prioritize empathy and respect in all interactions with founders, ensuring timely and transparent communication throughout the investment process.
