Job Title:

Backend Engineering Director

Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Backend Engineering Director to drive the development and implementation of our backend systems. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and deployment of high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of backend systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Develop and maintain technical roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Ensure adherence to industry best practices, coding standards, and testing methodologies.

Requirements:

Technical Expertise:

  • 7-10 years of experience in backend development, with recent hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot.
  • Proven expertise in building and scaling systems to handle high throughput, low latency, and event-driven architecture.
  • Solid understanding of AWS infrastructure components, including EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, VPC, and more.
  • Familiarity with DevOps best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and performance tuning.

Leadership & Execution:

  • Ability to own end-to-end delivery of backend features with high accountability.
  • Pragmatic decision-maker who focuses on value and execution over over-engineering.
  • Experience leading and mentoring engineers, conducting design reviews, and managing technical debt effectively.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Strong communication skills to influence technical decisions and align with business objectives.
  • Comfortable in customer-facing discussions, when needed, to represent technical perspectives.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams in remote/hybrid setups.
