Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operational Excellence Analyst to join our Global Commercial Services (GCS) team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing business self-testing and control testing to ensure the soundness of our lines of business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Including operational, financial, and regulatory or compliance testing, you will proactively anticipate and identify issues, and control deficiencies, through testing, call monitoring, and process monitoring.
  • You will work with business partners to develop and implement appropriate mitigating actions, ensuring compliance to Operational Risk Governance Group, Operational Excellence, and American Express Compliance standards.
  • Deliver periodic and ad hoc reporting against key business testing and monitoring to support management's awareness and response to control improvements.
  • Partner closely with key control teams, including Operational Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit, to promote a well-controlled environment.
  • Maintain internal control/operational risk competency through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Undertake regular project work analyzing business risks and exposures, preparing recommendations to business management for process improvement, best practices, risk reduction, and maximization of revenue.

  • Strong attention to detail and superior organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of operational risk concepts and programs, balanced with the ability to drive assessment of risks and derive controls to mitigate the risk.
  • Able to lead and guide a group of Risk professionals.
  • A proven ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change.
