As a Lead Data Scientist on our team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and develop tools and services that make a positive impact on people's lives. You will collaborate with an energetic and dedicated team of researchers, developers, architects, and IT professionals to design and build industry-leading map products.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and building process automation for HERE Core Map processes using scalable Big Data infrastructure and machine learning techniques.
  • Developing and testing analytic and statistical models to improve internal data-driven processes and system control needs.
  • Serving as an expert and evangelist in areas of data mining, machine learning, statistics, and predictive analysis and modeling.
  • Leading predictive modeling or application teams on Core Map projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: MS or PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Econometrics with emphasis on computational statistics/science/engineering, data mining, machine learning, and optimization.
  • Experience: Minimum 7+ years related professional experience.
  • Technical Skills: Expert-level knowledge in one or more areas such as regression, classifiers, clustering, association rules, decision trees, Bayesian network analysis, etc.
  • Programming Experience: Proficiency with Python, R, Matlab, SAS, SQL, shell script, etc.
  • Big Data Tools: Knowledge of and ideally some experience with Pig, Hive, etc., for working with big data in Hadoop and/or Spark for data extraction and data prep for analysis.
  • Communication Skills: Experience with effectively interacting with both internal and external customer executives, technical and non-technical to explain uses and value of predictive systems and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Development experience with Scala.
  • Development experience with Docker.
  • Development experience with GIS data.
  • Development experience with NoSQL (i.e. DynamoDB).
