Key Role: Procurement Specialist

Sourcing, purchasing and inventory management of essential raw materials for manufacturing is crucial to success.

The Procurement Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring an uninterrupted supply of quality materials at competitive prices, optimising procurement strategies and managing supplier relationships to support production schedules.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for key raw materials based on production demands and market conditions.
  • Identify, evaluate and negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure the best terms and maintain a robust supply chain.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders, track deliveries and resolve any procurement-related issues to ensure timely material availability.
  • Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations for steel products and adjust purchasing plans accordingly.
  • Collaborate closely with production, quality control, finance and plant planning teams to align procurement with manufacturing needs and quality standards.
  • Effectively manage inventory levels to balance availability and cost.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and prepare reports on procurement performance, cost savings and supplier evaluations.
  • Support vendor development and conduct periodic supplier audits for quality and delivery performance.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives in the procurement process to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Materials Management or Business Administration.
  • Proven experience in raw material procurement in steel or manufacturing industries, preferably related to construction or heavy engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of HRC, coated steel and supply chain dynamics.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyse market trends and make data-driven procurement decisions.
  • Proficient in procurement SAP Hana applications.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of import/export procedures is a plus.
