About the Role

The Senior Director, Product Design leads the design team and sets the vision for user experience across products. Reporting to the Chief Product and Design Officer, this role translates complex capabilities into clear experiences working closely with product managers, engineers, and data scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Design Strategy: Define and drive a holistic design vision ensuring a consistent, high-quality user experience. Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in AI, UX, and product design.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product designers fostering creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Customer-Facing Influence: Engage in client discussions shaping design strategy, translating needs into actionable insights. Ensure end-to-end design ownership supporting project continuity and client satisfaction.
  • Design Ops: Establish and streamline design operations improving scale, consistency, collaboration, efficiency, and quality across teams in a vision-driven environment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with leaders in product management, engineering, and data science aligning on product strategy, goals, and roadmaps.
  • User Advocacy: Advocate for the user through research, testing, and feedback ensuring design decisions are informed by user needs and behaviors.
  • Design Systems: Maintain and establish a centralized design system with standards, patterns, and best practices for designing with AI.
  • Evangelism: Present design strategies and concepts to senior leadership articulating design rationale and driving a design mindset across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, or related field, or equivalent.

Key Skills

  • 12+ years of experience in product design within a technology or product-centric company.
  • Proven experience leading a team of designers who design and ship AI-powered products or features.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional design skills, strategic thinking, and deep understanding of user-centered design principles.
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies using data to inform design decisions.
  • Excellent relationship management skills in technical environments with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills articulating complex design concepts to various audiences.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, agile environments with curiosity about AI's impact on design and user experience.
