Vessel Spare Parts Purchaser Job Description

The position of Vessel Spare Parts Purchaser involves sourcing and procuring necessary spare parts, consumables, and technical equipment for vessels to ensure they operate efficiently and safely.

Main Responsibilities
  • Purchase and manage the supply chain of vessel spare parts, consumables, and technical equipment.
  • Evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and high-quality products.
  • Build relationships with vendors and service providers to guarantee reliable support.
  • Process purchase requisitions from vessels and fleet management teams effectively.
  • Ensure accurate and timely order placement, tracking, and follow-ups.
  • Coordinate logistics and supply chain activities to arrange timely delivery of goods to vessels at ports worldwide.
  • Support monitoring and controlling procurement budgets.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
  • Review and verify supplier invoices and ensure accurate documentation for payment processing.
  • Guarantee timely clearance of invoices in the system and follow up on pending payments.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with maritime regulations and classification society requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and vendor agreements.
  • Assist during audits related to procurement and inventory management.
  • Collaborate closely with vessel superintendents and technical teams to understand and fulfill purchasing requirements.
  • Offer alternative solutions when specific parts or equipment are unavailable.
  • Keep vessels updated on order status and delivery timelines.
