Job Summary:

The Payment Operations Expert will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless payment processes. This position requires hands-on expertise in payment systems, technical troubleshooting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimize payment operations while maintaining security and scalability.

This is a mid-level individual contributor role that requires problem-solving skills and the ability to manage technical tasks effectively. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration and experience working with business, product, and engineering teams on payment projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in post-production processes for payment services, ensuring smooth transaction flows.
  • Maintain relationships with payment providers and integrators to resolve technical and operational issues.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal teams on payment-related inquiries.

Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in payments, with knowledge of North American payment operations.
  • Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi) and packet analysis (Wireshark/tcpdump).
  • Experience with observability platforms (New Relic, Datadog).
  • Understanding of cryptographic processes and TLS/SSL management.
  • Ability to analyze .NET/Java application dumps and system event logs.
  • POS integration layers and middleware experience.
  • Technical familiarity with payment gateways, transaction flows, and multi-currency processing.
  • Basic understanding of secure network infrastructure and scripting (e.g., SQL).
  • Awareness of PCI compliance and industry regulations.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Exposure to global payment platforms and integrations.
  • Familiarity with tokenization, encryption, or fraud prevention tools.
  • Experience with POS software (PAR POS, NCR Aloha, Micros, or similar).
  • Background in hospitality/restaurant technology.
  • Analytical mindset to improve payment efficiency and cost optimization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field (preferred but not required).
