About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Data Annotation Manager to lead and oversee our data annotation external team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of data annotation projects across various industries, including autonomous vehicles, agriculture, healthcare, and e-commerce. These projects will involve working with complex datasets such as lidar for 3D mapping and navigation, bounding box for object detection in images and videos, and segmentation, polygon, and mask annotation for precise image analysis, keypoint annotation for skeleton to detect human movements.

This role demands extensive experience in managing complex projects, often requiring collaboration with multiple vendors, clients, freelancers, and contract employees to ensure that high-quality deliverables are achieved on time and within budget. The candidate must navigate the unique challenges of each industry, such as ensuring precise labeling in high-stakes environments like autonomous driving, where safety is paramount, accuracy in identifying objects, real-time processing for immediate decision-making, and robustness in varying environmental conditions.


Responsibilities


  • Project Management:
  • Lead and manage end-to-end data annotation projects across various domains, including lidar, bbox, polygon, segmentation, agriculture data, and video annotations.
  • Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies to ensure successful project execution.
  • Monitor project progress, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to meet project objectives.
  • Vendor Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor agreements to optimize cost-effectiveness and service delivery.
  • Team Leadership and Management:
  • Oversee and manage a team of data annotators, including full-time employees, freelancers, and contract workers.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and performance evaluations to team members to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure team members have the necessary tools, resources, and training to perform their duties effectively.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and consistency of annotated data.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of annotated data to identify and address any issues or discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to develop and refine annotation guidelines and best practices.
  • Operational Efficiency:
  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Utilize data and analytics to drive decision-making and optimize annotation workflows.
  • Manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure projects are completed within financial constraints.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management, providing updates on project status, team performance, and operational metrics.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.




Background/Skills

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in data annotation and data management.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale annotation projects involving lidar, bbox, polygon, segmentation, and video annotations.
  • Extensive experience working with and managing multiple vendors, clients, freelancers, and contract employees.
  • Skills:
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data to drive decisions and optimize processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, problem-solving, and the ability to effectively manage client relationships while working seamlessly with diverse cross-functional teams.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience managing vendor contracts.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Proficient in managing data annotation projects, including expertise with various tools and platforms. Add on advantage if a candidate is experienced on the CVAT tool.
  • Familiarity with machine learning, AI, and data processing techniques.
