Job Summary The Commis 1 is a senior kitchen assistant responsible for preparing and cooking food in the Chinese and Continental sections of the kitchen Reporting to the Demi Chef de Partie DCDP or Chef de Partie CDP the Commis 1 helps ensure smooth kitchen operations by maintaining food quality hygiene and consistency during service Key Responsibilities Chinese Cuisine Duties Prepare ingredients and cook Chinese dishes such as fried rice noodles spring rolls stir-fried vegetables and basic sauces Assist in the operation of woks steamers deep fryers and other Chinese kitchen equipment Follow traditional and modern Chinese recipes under the guidance of senior chefs Continental Cuisine Duties Prepare and cook Continental items like pasta grilled meats vegetables soups salads and appetizers Use techniques like sauteing grilling baking and roasting as required Ensure proper portioning and plating based on kitchen standards General Duties Ensure mise-en-place is ready before each shift cutting vegetables marinating proteins etc Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of workstations and utensils at all times Label date and store all prepared food items properly FIFO method Assist CDP and DCDP during busy service hours Requirements Education Experience Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts or Hotel Management preferred 1-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen Prior experience in Chinese and or Continental cuisine is essential Skills Attributes Good understanding of Chinese and Continental cooking techniques Ability to follow recipes and kitchen instructions accurately Strong sense of hygiene cleanliness and kitchen discipline Ability to multitask and work under pressure during service times Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow in the kitchen Hygiene Safety Adhere strictly to food safety standards HACCP FSSAI Sanitize tools and work surfaces regularly Wear proper uniform and PPE during kitchen operations Working Conditions Rotational shifts including weekends and holidays Long hours standing in hot kitchen environments Fast-paced and team-driven work environment Career Path Next Step Demi Chef de Partie DCDP With experience and skill promotion to CDP or specialization e g Wok Chef Continental Grill Chef Job Type Full-time Work Location In person
