Associate Vice President, Tax

It s fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they re doing We re committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare proposed transaction step charts for transaction structuring Prepare proposed transaction step charts for transaction structuring Liaise with tax legal and accounting to aggregate information and supporting documents related to the structural changes for US and EUR Prepare proposed structure charts for discussion materials for prospective investors counterparties other external parties Support tax structuring teams across business lines and the management company collaborating with legal compliance and accounting functions on legal entity structure set up including KYC and related support Support tax structuring teams across business lines and the management company with tracking legal entity structure documents and supporting tax files Supporting document review for tax structuring Oversee the daily operations of tax associates in India to ensure all deliverables are accurate and timely Liaise between US EUR tax team and other internal functions including legal fund accounting operations and investor relations to manage workflow and deliverables assigned to associates which include performing or supervising responsibilities listed below Support US EUR tax team with structure documentation for fund or account launches and portfolio-specific activity and issues ensuring timely cross-communication of critical information between all parties Support tax team with quantitative tax analysis for decision making Coordinate with and support tax paralegals on tax ID applications tax elections tax legal entity management and maintenance of firm wide structure charts Coordinate with and support FATCA team and business line tax teams on investor account data management Manage quarterly tax payment process with business line tax teams in coordination with fund accounting and accounts payable Manage annual and quarterly investor tax reporting packages including uploading distribution through Intralinks Coordinate with business line tax teams on information requests including CLO PFIC statements FBAR and other tax forms Coordinate with US EUR team to standardize and streamline workflow processes to increase efficiencies and manage coordinate projects and technology enhancements Manage and review projects of associates and keeping US EUR tax team updated Communicate clearly concisely and regularly with US EUR tax team and maintain relationships at senior level and handle escalated requests Assist with the hiring of additional tax associates manage resource utilization conduct annual reviews cross train resources to mitigate key man risk and promote the Ares culture within the team REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Position Reports To Deputy Global Head of Tax located in Los Angeles Functional Team Supervised Tax associates QUALIFICATIONS Education Certification CA or related discipline For tax accountants Big 4 experience required Job Title AVP Tax Operations and Analytics India Department Tax Position Description 2 For candidates with legal or paralegal training fund formation and investment experience required Required Knowledge Knowledge of complex fund structures Understanding of legal entity organizational set up and agreements Adept with MS Office applications including Word Excel Powerpoint and Viso Alteryx preferred Experience Required Manage a team supporting multiple tax business lines in various time zones Experience with legal entity structuring and financial modelling preferred Experience with US EIN applications check the box elections tax forms and similar Experience in with treaty qualification withholding tax concepts Skills Abilities Strong written and verbal communications skills Strong organization and time management skills Ability and desire to work in a fast pace and dynamic environment Extremely detailed oriented with proven track record for accuracy Critical thinker strong analytical skills and initiative to increase knowledge Team player leadership skills develops and motivates team to produce high quality deliverables Personal and professional integrity of the highest order Reporting Relationships Deputy Global Head of Tax PE Transactional CounselQualificationsIf you like wild growth and working with happy enthusiastic over-achievers you ll enjoy your career with us
