Job Title: North Indian Cuisine Chef
Location: Sector 85, Gurgaon
Restaurant: Karim's Mughlai Restaurant
**Job Description**:
**Responsibilities**:
- Develop and execute menus featuring a variety of traditional North Indian dishes, including but not limited to Shahi Paneer, Daal Makhani, Butter Chicken, Aloo Gobi, and Tandoori specialties.
- Plan and prepare ingredients for cooking, ensuring freshness, quality, and consistency.
- Utilize traditional North Indian cooking techniques, such as tandoor cooking, sautéing, frying, and simmering, to create authentic flavors and textures.
- Manage kitchen staff, including sous chefs, line cooks, and prep cooks, and delegate tasks as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff in North Indian cooking techniques, recipes, and food safety standards.
- Monitor food inventory levels, order supplies as needed, and minimize food waste through proper portion control and utilization of leftovers.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to sanitation and safety standards at all times.
- Collaborate with management to develop seasonal menus, special promotions, and catering offerings.
- Stay updated on current food trends, new ingredients, and innovative cooking techniques related to North Indian cuisine.
- Ensure compliance with health codes, regulations, and restaurant policies regarding food preparation, storage, and handling.
- Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure timely and efficient service and address any guest concerns or special requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the overall success of the restaurant.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a chef specializing in North Indian cuisine, preferably in a high-volume restaurant or hotel setting.
- Extensive knowledge of North Indian spices, herbs, and ingredients, as well as traditional cooking techniques and regional variations.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Creativity and innovation in menu development, with a focus on maintaining authenticity while incorporating modern twists.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to culinary excellence in both presentation and taste.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Formal culinary training or certification from a recognized culinary institute is a plus.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- A passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences and delighting guests with delicious North Indian cuisine.
