Duties
Basic Function of the Position: The position is located in the Information Resource Management Office, U.S. Embassy New Delhi. The incumbent works as the "Shift Telephone Operator" and is required to perform all duties covered by the telephone operator position and also assists work controllers during after-hours, weekends and holidays. The incumbent performs switchboard customer service to 1300 extensions at Embassy and 250 extensions at American Center in New Delhi besides handling after hours calls from Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad Consulates through Nortel Meridian computer based M2250 operator console linked with computer based DPLUS telephone directory. The incumbent works in consultation and guidance with Work Controllers to assist callers General Services Office (GSO) related maintenance requirements, transportation and travel requirements. The incumbent provides emergency security, health-related assistance and general assistance to mission personnel and stranded American citizens. S/he performs telephone Conference Service Request, International Voice Gateway (IVG) calls, Vonage calls and long-distance calls for the Mission using switchboard guidelines. S/he handles highly complex and emergency calls and maintains the log book. The incumbent is required to update the information of new arrival and maintain up-to-date directory information on the shared network D-plus database. The incumbent will assist in interpreting local language to American Community. The incumbent will also perform other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:
**EXPERIENCE**:Two years of experience as a telephone operator or handling external telephone calls as a part of job.

**Education Requirements**:
Successful completion of Senior Secondary School (Class XII).
**Evaluations**:
Good working knowledge in English (Speaking, Reading and Writing) is required. This may be tested.
Good working knowledge in Hindi (Speaking, Reading and Writing) is required.
