We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Java with AWS to Azure Migration Specialist to lead our critical initiative of migrating our existing Java applications from AWS to Azure. This role will be instrumental in ensuring a smooth and efficient transition to the cloud, optimizing application performance, and enhancing overall system reliability.


Key Responsibilities:


Technical Leadership:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the migration team, ensuring alignment with best practices and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with architecture and development teams to define the migration strategy, including application modernisation and optimisation techniques.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of containerization strategies, leveraging Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Lead the development and deployment of CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments to Azure.
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.


Migration Execution:

  • Lead the assessment and analysis of existing Java applications to identify migration complexities and dependencies.
  • Define and implement migration strategies, including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and re-architecting approaches.
  • Oversee the migration of applications to Azure, including containerization, configuration, and deployment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve migration-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to business operations.


Azure Expertise:

  • Leverage deep expertise in Azure services, including Azure App Service, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, and Azure Monitor.
  • Optimize application performance and scalability on Azure, taking advantage of cloud-native technologies and services.
  • Implement robust security measures and compliance standards to protect sensitive data and applications.
  • Monitor and optimise the performance of migrated applications, making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance and cost-efficiency.


AWS to Azure Transition:

  • Understand the nuances of migrating from AWS to Azure, including differences in services, configurations, and best practices.
  • Identify and address potential challenges and risks associated with the migration process.
  • Develop strategies to minimise downtime and disruptions during the migration.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in Java development, with a strong understanding of core Java concepts, frameworks (Spring Boot, Hibernate), and design patterns.
  • In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization technologies (Docker, Helm).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly EC2, S3, and ECS.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring technical teams.
  • A passion for cloud technologies and a desire to stay up-to-date with industry trends.
  • Good knowledge of Angular and J2EE (advanced).


Primary Qualifications:

  • Azure certifications (Azure Developer, Azure Administrator or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert)
  • Experience with cloud-native application development and microservices architecture.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Bash) for automation.
  • Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
