In the Terminal & Infrastructure segment, Hapag-Lloyd has stakes in 20 terminals in Europe, Latin America, the United States, India, and North Africa. The roughly 2. employees assigned to the Terminal & Infrastructure segment deal with terminal-related activities and provide complementary logistics services at selected locations. ABOUT THE ROLE The Manager – HR Operations and Payroll will play a mission-critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of all HR operational processes, compliance adherence, payroll execution, automation support, and overall governance of HR systems and documentation. This role demands strong attention to detail, process orientation, and an in-depth understanding of statutory regulations and payroll systems. The ideal candidate will act as the backbone of HR compliance and operations while proactively identifying process improvements. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS Payroll & Compliance Manage monthly payroll execution, reconciliations, and documentation as per defined timelines Ensure % compliance with statutory obligations like PF, ESI, TDS, PT, LWF, and other labor laws File quarterly and annual Income Tax returns accurately and within due dates Maintain half-yearly Professional Tax workings Own the compliance tracker and ensure updates are submitted by the 20th of each month HR Operations & Reporting Strong Experience in Salary Benchmarking Drive HR automation initiatives on FHR in alignment with internal stakeholders Maintain accurate SAP entries for all HR transactions and employee changes Ensure timely addition and deletion of employees in Mediclaim and process reimbursement claims within SLA Submit dashboards for Headcount, Attrition, Confirmations, and Mediclaim as per defined schedule Monitor vendor agreements and renewal statuses; ensure updates by the 15th of every month Maintain accurate employee documentation and file records FHR Helpdesk & Employee Experience Manage FHR Helpdesk tickets and ensure SLA adherence Ensure smooth execution of Full & Final settlements in coordination with payroll and legal Conduct VOC (Voice of Customer) analysis to evaluate service effectiveness Support smooth onboarding experience with proper documentation and SAP ID generation Audit, Budgeting & Strategic Reports Prepare and review the HR Budget on a monthly basis; ensure alignment with business needs Support creation of monthly Management and Compliance PPTs Participate in global reporting for CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and ensure quarterly submissions Facilitate compliance with internal and global audit requirements Reviews & Governance Participate in operational reviews every 1st and 3rd Friday Provide data support and governance for internal Reward & Recognition and confirmation dashboards Ensure timely submission of Management reports before the 4th of every month BEHAVIOURS & APPROACH Process-oriented with high accuracy and discipline Proactive and hands-on with ownership mindset Excellent stakeholder management and follow-through Ethical, detail-oriented, and compliant in all operations Team player with the ability to work under tight timelines Curious, agile, and responsive to automation and system improvements WORK EXPERIENCE 10–12 years of experience in HR Operations and Payroll in mid-to-large organizations Strong understanding of compliance, income tax, labor laws, and SAP HR modules Proven experience managing dashboards, MIS, audits, and budgeting Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders across functions EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related discipline Master’s degree in Human Resources or Finance preferred Strong command over Excel, HR systems, data reporting, and presentation tools WHAT WE OFFER Competitive salary Self & Family Health Insurance Term & Life Insurance Bonus Employees’ Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme (EDLI) Learning & Development through HL Academy Flexible Work from Home Leave Travel Allowance Variable performance bonus Recreation facilities Privilege, Casual and Sick leaves Contact person Muthu Vignesh Rajendran Talent Acquisition Executive Share this job Imprint | Privacy Policy
