Company Overview:

Genome Quest is looking for a Sales Manager for our Client based in Mumbai, The Client is to specialize in factoring cross-border invoices and providing short-term import finance, post securing RBI license. It will cater primarily to MSME exporters and importers, offering them tailored financial solutions to enhance their working capital. The focus will be on mitigating risks associated with cross-border transactions and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, while also supporting the import financing needs of our clients.


Job Summary:

The Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales and business development activities in the MSME sector, with a focus on cross-border factoring, trade finance, and supply chain finance. This role requires strategizing market penetration, acquiring new clients, and managing relationships to ensure sustained business growth. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate banking, fintech, or trade finance, with a proven track record in sales and client management.


Key Responsibilities:


Client Acquisition and Management:

  • identify and acquire new clients in the MSME sector for cross-border factoring, trade finance, and supply chain finance solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including MSME exporters, importers, and trade bodies.
  • Conduct client meetings, presentations, and negotiations to close sales deals.
  • Manage a portfolio of existing clients, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention.

Business Development:

  • Develop and implement go-to-market strategies to penetrate new market segments.
  • Build and execute partnership strategies with banks, fintech companies, and trade associations.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in international markets, including the UAE, China, and beyond.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to enhance brand visibility and create lead generation campaigns.

Sales Strategy and Execution:

  • Lead the creation and implementation of sales strategies to achieve business targets and KPIs.
  • Develop a sales playbook and CRM processes to streamline sales operations and enhance customer experience.
  • Utilize digital tools and platforms, including CRM systems, to track sales performance and customer interactions.
  • Leverage alternative data sources for better client assessment and risk evaluation.

Market Intelligence and Reporting:

  • Provide market insights and competitive analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and present regular sales reports and forecasts to senior management.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, client feedback, and regulatory developments to adapt sales strategies accordingly.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of sales professionals, setting and monitoring their KRAs.
  • Foster a high-performance culture and provide continuous coaching and development opportunities.
  • Ensure the team is well-versed in product knowledge, regulatory requirements, and market trends.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in sales or business development, preferably within the NBFC, banking, or fintech sectors.
  • Proven track record in acquiring and managing clients in the MSME sector, particularly in cross-border factoring and trade finance.
  • Strong understanding of trade finance products, including invoice discounting, letters of credit, and other international payment mechanisms.
  • Experience with CRM systems and digital sales tools, with knowledge of alternative data usage for risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance in trade finance.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and developing a sales team.
