
Area Sales Manager

Job Summary:
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for driving sales growth and managing the sales operations in a defined geographical area. The role involves team leadership, sales strategy execution, distributor/channel partner management, and achieving sales targets through effective market penetration and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute area-specific sales plans aligned with company goals.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned region.
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of Sales Executives/Representatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, retailers, and key clients.
- Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and competitor activities.
- Monitor team performance, provide training/coaching, and ensure high productivity.
- Conduct regular market visits to ensure availability, visibility, and proper execution of promotions.
- Track sales data and prepare reports for senior management.
- Manage budgets and allocate resources effectively within the area.
- Resolve customer complaints and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 4–8 years of experience in field sales, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/managerial role.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle pressure.
- Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of CRM tools is a plus.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned area.
