Job Summary:
The People Operations Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and managing HR operations across India, Australia, and New Zealand. This role ensures alignment of HR processes with local labour laws, company policies, and best practices. The individual will handle day-to-day people operations activities, including payroll, employee lifecycle management, and compliance, while ensuring smooth operations in a multi-country environment.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Operations Management
Oversee all People Operations functions, including employee onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, and offboarding across India, Australia, and New Zealand.
Collaborate with HR teams in each region to ensure consistency in HR processes while adhering to local employment laws and cultural nuances.
Manage employee records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in all three markets.
Compliance & Policy Adherence
Ensure compliance with local labour laws, tax regulations, and employment standards in India, Australia, and New Zealand.
Ensure HR policies and procedures are compliant with India, Australian and New Zealand labour laws.
Advise on HR policies, practices, and legal requirements to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
Manage visa, immigration, and work permit processes for employees as required.
Regularly review and update HR policies to align with regional legal requirements and company standards.
Act as a subject matter expert on local regulations and provide guidance on regulatory issues as needed.
Employee Relations & Support
Serve as the point of contact for employee queries related to HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
Resolve employee issues related to workplace practices, performance management, and other HR matters in accordance with company policies.
Support managers and employees through the resolution of complex employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner.
Benefits Administration
Handle benefits administration, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee perks relevant to each country.
Work closely with the payroll team to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll changes for India and ANZ employees.
Oversee the administration of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave entitlements, ensuring alignment with ANZ-specific regulations.
Address queries including superannuation contributions.
Liaise with external vendors to manage benefits enrolment and employee queries.
HR Systems & Data Management
Use HR systems such as Workday and ServiceNow to manage employee data, generate reports, and provide insights into workforce trends.
Ensure data integrity and implement process improvements to streamline operations.
Policy, Process Improvement & Standardisation
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of People Operations.
Standardise operational practices where appropriate while considering country-specific legal and cultural requirements.
Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures tailored to the ANZ market.
Continuously evaluate and optimise people operations processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with key stakeholders, including HR Business Partners, Legal, Finance, and Talent Acquisition teams, to align HR processes with business objectives.
Participate in regional and global HR initiatives, providing input on local practices and contributing to the development of global people strategies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in People Operations or HR roles, with significant exposure to India, Australia, and New Zealand.
Strong understanding of labour laws and regulatory frameworks in each region.
Proven experience managing payroll, employee benefits, and HR systems (Workday, ServiceNow, or equivalent).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships across diverse cultures and regions.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in complex employee relations cases.
High attention to detail and organisational skills, with experience managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Preferred Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience working in a fast-paced, multinational environment.
Familiarity with compensation and benefits benchmarking in India, Australia, and New Zealand.
