Position Overview:

JivaAyush, a leading innovator in phytochemical research, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Research Associate to join our Phytochemical Laboratory team in Indore. The role involves supporting extraction and purification processes for natural compounds, with a focus on Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SCFE), Rotovap, and Shortpath distillation techniques. This entry-level position is ideal for recent MPharm or Pharm D graduates in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry with 0-2 years of experience, including internships or academic projects.

Key Responsibilities (KRAs):

  • Operate and maintain specialized lab equipment, including Rotovap (rotary evaporator) and Shortpath distillation systems, to ensure efficient extraction and purification of phytochemicals.
  • Execute Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SCFE) processes, optimizing parameters for high yield and purity while troubleshooting operational challenges.
  • Perform general lab techniques, including precise dilutions, safe handling and cleaning of glassware, and adherence to standard lab safety protocols to prevent contamination or accidents.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records, including lab notebooks, digital logs, and inventory tracking, ensuring compliance with regulatory documentation standards.
  • Assist in sample preparation, basic data analysis, and interpretation using analytical tools to support phytochemical research projects.
  • Uphold lab cleanliness, organization, and inventory management of chemicals and supplies, adhering to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Collaborate with team members on research tasks, contributing to method optimization and presenting preliminary findings.
  • Participate in routine lab maintenance, instrument calibration, and safe disposal of waste in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational Background:
    MPharm or Pharm D in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    0-2 years in a laboratory setting (internships or academic projects are considered).
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in operating Rotovap, Shortpath distillation, and SCFE systems.
  • Knowledge of general lab practices, including safe glassware handling, precise dilutions, and chemical storage.
  • Familiarity with record maintenance, including lab notebooks, digital logs, and basic data management.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Proactive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills for documenting experiments and collaborating with the team.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and capacity to work independently or in a team.
  • Other Requirements:
    Ability to handle hazardous materials responsibly and basic computer literacy for data entry and analysis software.
