WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Functional Finance Team is an integral part of the worldwide Finance organization, providing insight supported by meaningful and accurate financial information to help guide and influence the decision-making process of our leadership teams. The team partners with the leadership of our Global Functions, senior finance management, and local, regional, and global finance colleagues across the organization.
With this role, we are looking for a trusted and experienced finance professional to act as primary Finance Business Partner to our IT Service organization. The responsibilities of this role will include advising and providing financial support to the senior IT management team, and the various portfolios of services that they operate. Specifically, the role will provide decision support around financial planning, investments in change initiatives, operating models, and insightful and innovative reporting and trend analysis.
This position will play a critical role as a thought partner with IT management in establishing, and managing to, certain KPIs, targets, and metrics. Ideally you will bring experience and confidence that will help drive new ways of thinking and further improve our own financial maturity as a function and an organization.
The role will build and manage relationships with the management team of the IT function, and take an active role, along with other members of the functional finance team and local/regional finance teams, in discussions at senior leadership levels.
YOU'RE GOOD AT
Building relationships will be critical to success in this role in order to establish a seat at the table with senior management as a true business partner. This will require the ability to balance when to listen, negotiate, and flex or push back where needed. Further, you will be looked at as the subject matter expert for all financial aspects of the IT Service organization, which will require you to be proactive in learning and understanding the IT side of the business as well as building a bridge between our Global and Local finance teams across BCG.
This role will require a confident person who can work across time zones to make and influence decisions with senior management through ownership of the annual financial planning, cost trend analysis, business cases and portfolio management for investments, large scale transformations, etc. To drive educated decision making, you need a sound understanding of the bigger picture and an ability to connect cost and value together.
Ultimately, this person will need to have a consultative approach to problem solving and critical thinking, working closely with stakeholders to understand the problem we are trying to solve, providing deep analysis, and offering viable solutions.
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting/economics and/or an MBA
  • A minimum of 6+ years related finance experience, preferably with prior experience working as a finance business partner or in an FP&A capacity
  • Knowledge or experience in supporting IT and Digital teams is beneficial but not required.
  • Further knowledge or experience with financial governance of agile and other accelerated service delivery models will also be beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and written, with the ability to adjust to multiple audiences and the confidence to present to and influence senior management.
  • A passion for working in a collaborative team environment
  • Critical Thinking and problem solving – proven ability to work through complex problems and analyses in providing a thoughtful concrete solution
  • Motivation and self-drive – excited by tackling challenges and pro-actively finding new ways to provide value to senior leadership
  • Advanced Excel skills - experience building scalable financial models and analyzing large data sets
  • Ability to translate financial analysis into cohesive leadership presentations via PowerPoint
  • Other strong system skills a benefit, such as knowledge of SAP, Tableau, PowerBI, Think-Cell, etc

The Functional Finance team is currently made up of 30+ people across Boston, London and India working to provide financial decision support to BCG’s Functional management teams.
Your key stakeholders will be BCG’s IT and Finance managers/directors located across the globe and overseeing a portfolio of core IT Services that ensure the digital operations of BCG.
