Desktop Support Technician

Job Description

  • Installation, configuration, diagnosis and resolution of technical issues related to Microsoft products viz. Microsoft client operating systems (Windows7/ Windows8, Windows10), Email (Outlook), File & Print service, MS office, and various business applications etc.
  • Installation, configuration, diagnosis and resolution of technical issues related to all technology peripherals viz. desktops, thin clients, laptop, printers and scanners etc.
  • Migration and Deployment of Desktops and laptops build as per company standards.
  • Communicating with overseas customers and solving their desktop related problems by using remote tools like Skype for Business, Web Ex etc.
  • Supporting desktop maintenance, security maintenance, including virus updates and patch management
  • Interacting technical people at a variety of levels as well as ability to address technical issues with non-technical associates.
  • Good logical ability & time management skills
  • Smart approach towards incident management
  • The ability to communicate with overseas customers and problem solving ability by using remote tools like Skype for Business, Web Ex etc

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or holds a professional qualification.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of Microsoft Windows 10 operating systems.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of all Microsoft Office suites in particular Office 2019/365 Apps for Enterprise.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy and Microsoft Exchange.
  • Working knowledge of Office 365 administration.
  • Working knowledge of service desk ticketing software.
  • Basic knowledge of MacOS.

Technical Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Basic understanding of Automox for endpoint management and patching
  • Triaging in IT ticketing workflows using Jira and ServiceNow
  • Experience with asset management and tracking of hardware/software inventory

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 tasks, including:

  • Creating and managing Distribution Lists (DLs)

  • Setting up and maintaining shared mailboxes

  • Applying changes as per organizational needs

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra Admin, Exchange Admin, Intune, and JAMF for device and user management

  • Knowledge of reimaging devices and overseeing the device lifecycle process
  • Familiarity with Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools and practices

  • Basic understanding of networking components including:

  • How routers, switches, and firewalls function within a network

  • Experience with BitLocker for device encryption and security

  • Working knowledge of SCCM for software deployment and endpoint configuration
  • Use of TeamViewer for remote desktop support
  • Management and administration of Slack workspace and user access
  • Provided end-user floor support, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues

The following experience would be a benefit:

  • Experience with security (i.e. anti-virus, firewall, secure configuration, vulnerability assessment and patch management) solutions.
  • Experience working with or using a mobile device management systems like InTune.
  • Experience with Zoom or Teams.
  • Experience working with a virtual desktop environments (i.e. VMWare View).
  • Experience with server virtualisation (i.e. VMWare or HyperV).
  • Experience with TCP/IP, DNS, Wi-Fi and LAN concepts.
