Role Accountabilities

Job Summary:

The In-Process Quality Engineer for Lithium-Ion Batteries ensures that the production processes meet quality standards and that the final products adhere to the company’s specifications and regulatory requirements. This role involves monitoring manufacturing processes, conducting quality inspections, and implementing corrective actions to enhance product quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Control and Inspection:
  • Monitor and inspect in-process manufacturing of lithium-ion batteries to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform regular audits of production lines to identify deviations from established processes.
  • Develop and implement inspection protocols for critical process parameters.
  1. Process Optimization:
  • Analyze production data to identify areas of improvement in the manufacturing process.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to implement process improvements that enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Use statistical methods to monitor and control process variations.
  1. Defect Analysis and Troubleshooting:
  • Investigate quality issues and defects identified during the production process.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine the origin of quality problems and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Document all findings and actions taken to address quality concerns.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, test results, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare quality reports and presentations for management, highlighting key quality metrics and improvement areas.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other relevant certifications.
  1. Supplier Quality Management:
  • Work with suppliers to ensure that incoming materials meet quality requirements.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assist in resolving any quality issues related to supplied components.
  1. Training and Development:
  • Train production staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Develop and update training materials related to quality processes and inspections.
  1. Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure all quality processes comply with safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in safety audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in quality control, quality assurance, or process engineering in a battery manufacturing or related environment.
  • Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery manufacturing processes, materials, and quality standards.
  • Proficiency in quality management tools such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in using quality management software and tools (e.g., Minitab, SPC software).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Quality Engineering (CQE) or Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
  • Experience with battery management systems and testing protocols.
