Job Summary

The Assistant Manager - Statutory Compliance (HR) will be responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to all applicable labor laws, statutory regulations, and government requirements related to employees. This role will oversee the timely filing of statutory returns, maintenance of compliance documentation, liaison with regulatory authorities, and proactive updates on legal changes affecting HR practices. The position demands strong attention to detail, process discipline, and the ability to manage compliance seamlessly across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Statutory Compliance Management

- Ensure adherence to all applicable labor laws and statutory requirements, including but not limited to: Factories Act, Shops & Establishments Act, EPF, ESI, Gratuity, Bonus Act, and Minimum Wages Act.

- Maintain accurate statutory records and registers as mandated under various acts.

- Prepare, verify, and file statutory returns (PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, etc.) within prescribed timelines.

- Address employee queries related to statutory deductions, benefits, and eligibility.

2. Liaison & Coordination:

- Coordinate with government authorities, labor inspectors, and PF/ESI officers during inspections, audits, and compliance checks.

- Collaborate with internal departments and external consultants to ensure compliance processes remain updated and effective.

3. Audits & Documentation:

- Prepare, review, and present compliance reports for internal and external audits.

- Maintain statutory registers, licenses, and renewal documentation as per legal requirements.

4. Policy & Process Compliance:

- Assist in formulating and implementing HR policies aligned with statutory obligations.

- Conduct training sessions and provide guidance to HR, operations, and line managers on compliance-related matters.

5. Legal Updates & Advisory:

- Stay abreast of amendments to labor laws, rules, and regulations.

- Advise management on required policy changes and process improvements to ensure continued compliance.

Key Skills & Competencies:

- In-depth knowledge of Indian labor laws and statutory compliance frameworks.

- Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent coordination and stakeholder management abilities.

- High attention to detail with the ability to work under strict deadlines.

- Proficiency in MS Office, PF/ESI portals, and payroll/HR management systems.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Education: Bachelor's degree in HR, Law, Commerce, or related field (MBA/PGDM in HR preferred).

- Experience: 3-7 years of experience in statutory compliance and HR operations, preferably in a manufacturing or large-scale corporate environment.
